I had 13 shorebird spp. yesterday at Conneaut harbor.  Numbers and variety of juveniles is increasing.  Swallow numbers were way down.  Highlights: green-winged teal, green heron, bald eagles, imm. Cooper's hawk (still trying to catch a shorebird for lunch), black-bellied plover, Am. golden-plover, 9 semipalmated plovers (first juv.), 15 killdeers, juv. willet, 5 juv. lesser yellowlegs, solitary sandpiper, spotted sandpiper, 3 sanderlings, 6 semipalmated sandpipers (first juvs.), 16 least sandpipers (mostly juvs.), 2 pectoral sandpipers, 6 juv. short-billed dowitchers, 7 Caspian terns, e. phoebe (probable migrant), and purple martin.  Birders and photographers are also increasing at Conneaut; it's always good to see old friends and make new ones there.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
