I hiked and biked around several parks along the Olentangy River in Worthington and nearby Columbus this morning looking for early migrants. These spots included Antrum Lake, the Olentangy Parkland of Worthington, the Olentangy Nature Trail, and Whetstone Park. There were no flocks of migrants despite the overcast weather, but there were still some birds on the move, including

Osprey - 1 was at Antrum Lake early, before the crowds built up.

Wood Pewees - good numbers, many still calling, at each spot, with 20+ for the morning

Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers - no big #s, but a few were at Antrum and Whetstone

Swallows - a few Barn Swallows at each spot, but nothing else seen

Vireos - Red-eyed were at most locations, usually only 1-2; two Warbling were singing at Antrum Lake

Cedar Waxwings - small flocks at many locations, often hitting Hackberry or Cherry trees with fruits

Warblers - only two: a Blackpoll at Olentangy Nature Trail and a Redstart at Whetstone

Orioles - calling males were at Antrum, Olentangy Parkland, and Whetstone
