I live right up next to woods so we have raccoons dig up plants all the
time. Not much you can do to get rid of them, but I have found an effective
way to keep them off my bird feeder pole. Grease the pole with Vicks
Vapo-Rub. Works great! I have a "raccoon-proof" baffle too that is about 18"
diameter but it doesn't work like Vicks. My dad created his own recipe with
petroleum jelly and capsicum pepper which he claimed works but Vicks is
easier.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Raccoon trouble

Hey, does anyone have any good ideas on getting rid of raccoons? I have a
family living in the back and my Golden Retriever got into a confrontation
with one the other night. Lots of hissing, barking, and me yelling..LOL

I put out ammonia in 2 places.
The raccoon gets in the bird feeders even tho I have a raccoon baffle on the
system. I found a dead cardinal nearby.

I'd appreciate any help you can give. Thanks, Becky
