The Avocet was still at Hoover (area M) off the end of the boardwalk. Ken
and I as well as Tom and Jackie Bain and a few other birders saw the Avocet
between 12 and 12:45. It slept on the small exposed island just off the end
of the boardwalk and then flew to the East shore, just behind the 2nd Osprey
nest platform.
Also in addition to what Bob reported:

9 Semipalmated Sandpipers
Northern Rough-winged Swallow

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Hoover Reservoir - American Avocet

While kayaking up at the north end of the Hoover Reservoir I spotted one
American Avocet still in a light breeding plumage. I was able to drift to
about 10/15 yards from him, not really bothered by me, just eating away. He
was about
200 yards south of the Osprey platform along the east shoreline. He then
moved up to the island by the platform. Not to be an island much longer. The
water level has dropped quite a bit and there is a lot of shore bird habitat
along the shore line. Unless the Avocet moves around, boat is going to be
the only way of seeing him at this time. Other birds
seen:

3 Bald Eagles
4 Osprey
Numerous Killdeer (the Starlings of shorebirds).
Lesser Yellow Legs
Spotted Sandpipers
Numerous Blue Heron
About a dozen Great Egrets
Several Green Herons
3 Belted Kingfisher
Several Double Breasted Cormorants
2 to 3 dozen Ring Billed Gulls
Numerous Mallards
Several deer along the shoreline
A family of Raccoons eating along the shoreline.
