Hello,
I received a number of contacts regarding my earlier post about Sandhill Cranes in Geauga County. This is what I can share:
1. Sandhill Cranes are known to breed in this area.
2. My wife's uncle saw and photographed the birds "2 miles east of Rt. 44 on the north side of 322" on Friday, August 6th.
3. From the pictures, I cannot see any bands on the birds. Also, I can't really be sure about the age of the birds, but it seems like one of them is a juvenile. I could be fooled by the angle however. My wife's uncle is an experienced photographer but he has no access to high speed internet so he has to crop and compress the images in order to email them.
I hope that this information suffices for twitchers and record keepers. I can retrieve additional information as necessary.
Dan WeberAthens, OH
