This morning the Caesar Creek's Franklin's Gull was posing on the beach along with 12 Terns. Ten of them were clearly Forster's and the two others were probably Forster's as well. I puzzled over them because they still had total black caps. Common Terns usually do not molt until they reach their winter ground but at this time they should at least have a hint of a carpel bar. These did not so I assume they were behind schedule in changing into winter plummage. Anyway it was a real treat to see them flying and returning to the edge of the beach.

Good Birding Day Cheers,
Larry Gara
