John,

For a little additional context, a Black-backed Woodpecker turned up on
14-15 September 1985 at Holiday Beach Conservation Area, Essex County (south
of Windsor), Ontario, Canada.

Before anyone dismisses this as too early in the season, I saw and
photographed one in Lorain on September 27, 1984. I'm not sure of the dates
on Ohio's other records.

Also, I heard a second-hand report of a Long-tailed Jaeger at Mentor
Headlands this morning. Sorry, no other details.
