Most of the year I cut and pull the invasive buckthorn that dominates
my fields and shrub rows.
But, this time of year, I soften towards it, as it provides a banquet
for warblers.

Today, in late afternoon, I watched as three nashvilles and one cape
may delicately probed the
berries on the buckthorn.  A blackpoll took a different approach and
vigorously yanked the berries
from the shrub. Two black throated blues were also attracted to the
berries. The  same bushes
attracted a black throated green, a tennessee and a couple of
magnolias. And a few guesses.

With the palm warblers and common yellowthroats I saw out in the
fields this morning that makes
a nine warbler day.  Nice for this location.

Topping off a nice birdy day here, an olive sided flycatcher perched
at the top of a dead tree by the
pond.  There long enough for me grab my camera and get a few shots
before a blue jay dislodged him
from his perch.
