My email was not working last night, sorry for the late post.
I stopped briefly at Conneaut Saturday 9/11. There was a lot of exposed
mudflat, but the usual shorebird area was dry. What shorebirds were around
were along the bay by the observation platform. There were a ton of gulls
around with a lot of birds sitting in the shallows north of the flats and a
lot were on the outer breakwalls. Birds of note was a LAUGHING GULL (juv)
and a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (2nd cycle). I'm guessing the laughing gull
was the same bird seen about a week ago. There were a couple eagles and a
peregrine occasionally scattering the gulls.
Shorebirds seen were semipalmated plover, greater and lesser yellowlegs,
semipalmated sandpiper, least sandpiper, and sanderling. Ducks seen were
mallard, green-winged teal, and northern shoveler.
