Huron Pier/Ri
Interesting day along the lakefront. Some highlights:
Huron Pier/River
Common Loon 1
Dunlin 144 small flocks passing at the pier - ZERO on the extensive flats
present along the river, certainly a movement day for this species
Lesser Black-backed Gull 8 seven birds loafing on the exposed flats at the
pier, and an add. ad. along the river
Common Tern 3
Tree Swallow 1
An Haans mentioned yesterday, ~5000 Ring-billed Gulls were concentrated at the
Huron River flats, and unbelieveably not a Franklin's!
Cedar Pt. Causeway
Snow Goose 1
Tundra Swan 15
thousands of coots, assorted waterfowl, geese, etc...viewing difficulties aside,
this may be the premier waterfowl concentration area in the state
Lorain Harbor
CAVE SWALLOW 3
Northern Rough-winged Swallow 2
Vesper Sparrow 1
Fox Sparrow 2
A couple Cave Swallow documentation shots to be found here (DISCLAIMER: Cave
Swallow photography is not for the light-hearted, but these should cover
documentation!):

The swallows were foraging over the northern portion of the impoundment.
Pressed for time...sorry so brief. Hope these birds stick 'til the morn!
Good birding -
