Today there was some of the biggest songbird activity that I have seen all
fall in my North Perry yard. There were huge numbers of warblers and
sparrows seemed to be everywhere.

The day started unusual. When I went into the yard to fill my feeders,
there was a Virginia rail under the feeders. It's a first for the yard. It
ended up running off into the woods not to be seen again. I did not have
time to sit and watch the lake, but when I did there were numerous of flocks
of warblers and other songbirds heading west. There were a lot in the yard
also. There was a good variety with the best being orange-crowned,
Connecticut and pine. In all I had eighteen species today. One one point
in time this morning there were 500+ chimney swifts in the air around my
house. From what I saw of the lake, few birds were moving. There were a
few cormorants and scaup moving.
