A group comprised of Jeanne Hrenko, Sally and Dave Isacco and myself
were able to locate and get great looks at
a Nelson' Sharp-tailed sparrow on the boardwalk on the Wake Robin Trail
in Mentor. Jeanne spotted the bird
and we all zeroed in on it for multiple good views. Also seen there were
a variety of other sparrows including
Lincoln's and many good looking Swamp Sparrows among others.

Earlier in the morning, Mentor Headlands was alive with activity.
Yellow-rumped Warblers, White-throated and
White Crowned Sparrows were everywhere. Highlights included a nice
variety of Thrushes (Swainson's, Gray-cheeked, Hermit, E. Bluebirds),
Warblers, ( Black-throated Blue, Orange-crowned, Nashville, Pine),
Red-breasted Nuthatches, Brown Creepers, and Lincoln and
Field Sparrows.

Although over 30 Vultures were spotted in the trees on the east side of
the park, none appeared to be the Black Vulture.

See you on the trails,

Chris Pierce
