Went out about 11AM. Took a detour to the grocery store. Went by way of Headlands; stayed at Headlands for about 1 1/2 hrs. Cloudy, windy but no rain. Just had time to walk to the beach and back but it was entertaining. Saw three firsts for the fall; snow buntings, tree sparrows and fox sparrow. Spent most of my time watching the buntings. One minute they were on the beach and the next they would be flying low over the water and straight north out of site. Then I would be looking at the ducks, turn around and the buntings would be back. Highlights were:

Snow buntings-26
Coot-1
Ruddy ducks-3
Bufflehead-1(F)
Lesser scaup-8
Fox sparrow-1
Hermit thrush-3
RS Towhee-1(F)
White-throated sparrows-many ( most numerous bird of the day )
Tree sparrows-many
White-crowned sparrows
Juncos
Golden-crowned kinglets-2
Ruby-crowned kinglets-quite a few
