My first stop this morning was Alum Creek S. P. I parked on Lewis Center
Rd. and walked up the trail past the visitor's center to the beach. Not
much to see there. A small flock of ring-billed gulls and one juvenile
herring gull were down by the water. Some horned larks were feeding on
the lawn near the sign with the big 2 on it. Then I walked across the
damn where I saw one pie-billed grebe,
Next I went to Hoover Reservoir where my first stop was Oxbow. At Oxbow I
saw two small flocks (5 or 6 individuals each) of American Coots.
Several American pipits were on the mudflats at the boardwalk. Not much
else at that stop except some gulls and crows in the distance.
Three pie-billed grebes made an appearance at Hoover Dam.
There were turkey vultures overhead at both Alum Creek and Hoover
Meadows. Killdeer were heard at both Alum Creek and Oxbow.
Not all species seen are mentioned.
