Yesterday, Oct 3rd, there were 500 + Common Grackles in my (northern Summit
County-near Blossom Music Center backyard) at the some time. This was at
0835. Amongst them only spotted 2 European Starlings. Did not see any
Rusties, however something scared the entire flock off before each bird was
observed.

One of the grackles was suspiciously large-tailed, however not sure whether
photos will reveal more information.

Also:

Herring Gull (fly-over) 2
Turkey Vultures (circling) 5
Red-shouldered Hawk 1
American Crow 20 +
Downy Woodpecker 2
Red-bellied Woodpecker 1
Blue Jays 45 +
Northern Cardinal 5
Tufted Titmouse 17 +
Red-breasted Nuthatch 2
White-breasted Nuthatch 4
White Crowned sparrow 4
Song Sparrow 1
Chipping Sparrow 2
European House Sparrow 20 (Ugh - had not seen even one in the past 2 weeks.)

Perhaps it was the weather?

Renee
