With a little time yesterday morning, I stopped at the lower part of Alum Creek Lake (in southern Delaware County), then worked downstream to Sharon Woods MetroPark (in northern Franklin County). The rain was light early, but then it cleared off by 9:30 AM. There was some migration early, but not as much as you might think given the changing weather. Notables included:

Waterfowl - nothing at Alum Cr.Lake, but Shrock Lake in Sharon Woods had 4 Wood Ducks and a Pied-billed Grebe

Gulls - 240+ Ring-bills were on the beach at ACL, but 8 Herring Gulls were the only thing with them.

Raptors - slight movement at New Galena (SE Alum Cr.Lake), with 12 Turkey Vultures, 1 Sharp-shin, and 1 Red-tail in 1 hour

Flycatcher- only 2 E.Phoebes (1 at New Galena, 1 at Sharon Woods)

Kinglets,Nuthatch - good numbers of Kinglets, with 5-10 Golden-crowns and slightly fewer Ruby-crowns at all stops. 1 Red-br.Nuthatch was stranded at New Galena.

Thrushes - Hermit Thrushes rising, with 2 at New Galena and another at Sharon Woods. Also had 4 flyover E.Bluebirds at New Galena, and flocks of Robins at all sites.

Warblers- nothing but Yellow-rumps, but lots of 'em, with 15-20 at every site.

Sparrows - good numbers, with 65+ White-throats at New Galena especially good. Also had Chipping, Field, Swamp, Song, Lincoln's, White-crown, and Juncos

Bunting- a laggard Indigo was south of Shrock Lake in SHaron Woods

Blackbirds - start of serious migration, with 80+ Redwings, flying south at Alum Creek Lake and 60+ Grackles flying south over Sharon Woods

Finches - still no winter strays, but goldfinches were increased at all sites, including 120 in the pocket prairie next to Shrock Lake.
