I started up my winter feeder yesterday and my first feeder bird for the
year on South Bass was a red-breasted nuthatch! Bob Glauser said he has been
getting one for about three weeks now on his feeder.

Also within the first ten minutes I had a brown creeper and golden-crowned
kinglet in the tree near the feeder-but not in it while watching.

We have had small groups of bufflehead coming through and one or two common
loons seen at a time this past week.

Saw my first tree sparrow at Scheeff East Point on November 9 and saw swamp
sparrows over the weekend on Middle Bass Island.

We have large numbers of Bonaparte's gulls around in addition to ring-billed
and herring.
