Today was interesting at the Deer Creek Reservoir :

http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Portals/9/pdf/pub156.pdf

There was a big turnover in just 2 days since I was last there. Birds in the Reservoir today included :

5 Snow Geese (4 blue, 1 white)
1 ROSS'S GOOSE
4 Tundra Swans
Gadwalls
Am Black Ducks
Mallards
Ring-necked Ducks
L. Scaups
Buffleheads
C. Goldeneyes
~80 Hooded Mergansers
Ruddy Ducks
1 RED-THROATED LOON
11 Common Loons
P-b Grebes
7 Horned Grebes
D-c Cormorants
Great Blue Herons
6 Black Vultures
Am. Coots
2 Sandhill Cranes
Killdeers (only a few)
1 Gr. Yellowlegs
5 Dunlins
689 Bonaparte's Gulls (counted!)
many Ring-billed Gulls (not counted!)
~15 Herring Gulls

When scoping out the reservoir be sure not to miss any nooks and crannies. The reservoir has an odd shape and it is necesary to make a lot of stops. There are birds in every part of the reservoir. The gate to the beach is closed again this year, but parking by the gate is allowed. The road running west from there is also closed off before the last 2 picnic sites, but you can also walk down there.
