About 3PM we did a tour around Pine Lake and Evans Lake in eastern Mahoning County. These two large protected bodies of water are nearby to each other. No hunting, no fishing and no boating are allowed. Good viewing can be found by driving around the perimeter of the lakes. A surprise was a Great Egret at the east end of Evans Lake off the southeast corner of Calla and Springfield Roads. Other highlights from the two lakes were: Northern Shoveler~30+; Northern Pintail~ 1 male; Bufflehead~80+; Hooded Merganser~300+; Ruddy Duck~1000+; Pied-billed Grebe~8+; American Coot~100+; Double-crested Cormorant~1; Bonaparte's Gull~3; and huge flocks of American Crows!
