It's a little frustrating having FIVE days off and the cold front is coming Wednesday. Birding highlight by far was an adult bald eagle investigating a heron nest, while being dive-bombed by a kestrel, at Wilbeth Rd this morning. According to Peterjohn, this is the time for nest-building to begin. Red-tailed hawks have nested in the rookery more than once and didn't seem to bother the herons all that much.

Saturday, 80+ hooded mergansers were on a small lake (borrow pit?) east of Ravenna, at the intersection of OH 5 and Sandy Lake Rd --- Valley Hills Mobile Home Park. I have come to expect more ducks at this spot than all of West Branch put together.

Peace,
Gregory Bennett

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:1-5
