Saturday, December 18, 2010! The weather is supposed to warm by Saturday!
You all should see the Allegheny-Teays habitat mosaic in Pike and Jackson
Counties, Ohio. Bring your team or just yourself to this really interesting
terrain in southern central Ohio to participate in the 20th Beaver Valley
Christmas Bird Count! It's worth the drive.
This unique area is marked by a broad meander of the abandoned preglacial
Teays River Valley cutting a swath through the steep hills. Surrounding
dissected hills of the Allegheny Plateau offer birders wild and varied
terrains. We've found about 103 species of birds during the last twenty
years, from Barn Owls to American Pipits. If you don't have Ruffed Grouse on
your 2010 year list--we've got a territory just for you (you'll need to
bring luck with you, too)!
Call or email for information and maps. At least two large territories are
available.
