My wife and I were surprised this morning while eating breakfast, as a
large bird flew in to our hanging suet feeder. A Northern Flicker fed
for about 2 minutes before moving on as the "mongol hoards" of House
Sparrows descended onto the adjacent seed feeder. It was my wife's
first extended view of a Flicker not feeding on the ground.
