Hello Everyone,

I'd like to invite all of you to kick off the New Year in fine birding form
by joining Black Swamp Bird Observatory (BSBO) and the Ohio Young Birders
Club for the Fremont Christmas Bird Count on January 1st. This is a great
opportunity to start off your 2011 year list and bird some really
interesting areas of Ohio that you might not have visited before! For more
information please call BSBO at 419-898-4070 or visit us online at:
http://www.bsbo.org/events/Fremont_Christmas_Bird_Count.htm

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who joined us for
the year's Lake Erie Pelagic trips hosted by BSBO, Discovery Tours of
Cleveland, and Inside the Great Outdoors Radio. We sold out every trip
this year and, in addition to the hope of seeing some rare birds, the fact
that we had some ridiculously good field trip leaders had a lot to do with
the trips' appeal. Our thanks to: John Pogacnik, Jen Brumfield, Gabe
Leidy, Mark Shieldcastle, Larry Rosche, Kenn Kaufman, and a whole host of
Ohio's best birders, for making these trips so much fun. I'd also like to
offer a special thanks to the crew of The Holiday for taking such good care
of some crazy birders willing to brave whatever Lake Erie might throw at
you this time of year. We're going to do the trips again next year (we're
even looking into the possibility of doing some out of the Toledo area) and
we hope you'll join us!

I should also mention that the program on wind turbines in migratory bird
stopover habitat that BSBO was scheduled to give this afternoon for the
Naturally Speaking monthly lecture series at Ottawa National Wildlife
Refuge has been postponed due to weather. For more information on the
subject visit here: http://www.bsbobird.org/wind_energy.htm

Thanks!
