I have been waiting all day for yesterday's results of the annual OOS Wilds Birding Event to be posted (?). There were 2 rather significant sitings that need to be reported, especially since many people have tomorrow off and my want to spend it birding. Our group documented a Northern Shrike along Prouty Road, just south of map point 8 (map attached) in a tree on the west side of the road about where the oil & gas tank is and the where hay bales are close to the road. There are quite a few Meadowlarks near this location, too. Another group reported seeing 2 golden eagles yesterday. Although I'm not 100% sure, I believe they were seen flying high west of Knox Cemetery (map poinst 7; a great vantage point !). In past years, they have been spotting quite often around the Wilds visitors' center too. There are lots of rough legged hawks there this year, but few northern harriers. Hopefully, a complete listing will be posted soon.
