A northern shrike was hunting in my scruffy power line fields this
afternoon.

He was very active, moving quickly from perch to perch, and diving
down into
the weedy fields. Over an hours time he covered about 30 acres.

I didn't see what, if anything, he caught, but four chickadees came
barreling towards me,
clearly seeing him as a big risk as he flew to a nearby sapling.

I've had shrikes here fairly regularly over the years, but I think the
last one was in 2009.

I am close to Frohring Meadows, along the power lines, so it seems
likely that
it might also be located there.

(Bird #40, on my underachievers January list.)

Chagrin River Road, Geauga/Cuy Co. line
