I've been looking around places in eastern Mahoning Co. the last few days.  The Struthers-Lowellville section of the Mahoning River has held a tundra swan, Canada geese, mallards, 2 Am. black ducks, ring-necked duck, c. goldeneye, up to 13 hooded mergansers, pied-billed grebe, belted kingfisher, and Am. robin.  Around my feeders here in Poland Twp., Am. tree sparrows have increased to a max. count of 24 (3-4X normal) and Am. goldfinches are up to 32 (about 4X the usual).  Around Pine L. I saw an ad. sharp-shinned hawk and 2 n. mockingbirds.  Another sharp-shinned hawk was seen in Struthers.  In Beaver Twp. a manured field along busy Rte. 14 had 10 horned larks.  In Green Twp. I found horned larks and snow buntings at Washingtonville Rd. (distant looks) and along Calla Rd.  I estimated 65 horned larks and 50 snow buntings total.  Thanks to Jeff Harvey and Audubon Society/Mahoning Valley for the tip.  During my travels around E Mahoning Co. I
 encountered ~10 red-tailed hawks (including a pair), 2 red-shouldered hawks, 1 Am. kestrel, only 6 e. bluebirds, and 4 song sparrows.  Oh yeah, and 1875 Canada geese.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
