Greetings
After reading the posts of short eared owls near Sandy Ridge, North Ridgeville, Lorain County, I managed to make the trip yesterday evening. It was getting dark when we arrived but were able to see the wonderful birds in flight before it got too dark. Thanks for all the posts regarding this location and the wonderful pictures from Tim Fairweather at Sandy Ridge.

On the home front here in Wakeman,Lorain County, we've had daily visits from flocks of pine siskins (count of 11 yesterday) for quite some time. They're feasting on a mix of black oiled sunflower seeds and thistle. Have also had many gold finches , purple finches and house finches (not as many house finches as we've had in the past) Flickers, Downy & Hairy Woodpeckers come daily to feed on my home made mix of suet/peanut butter/pine nuts etc., which was originally given as a blue bird food. It works just fine for the woodpeckers as well as nuthatches, chickadees and titmice.

Happy Birding.
Dorothy
