This park contains (or "is") the frisbee golf course which extends quite a way toward Griggs Dam. I do not believe there is a marker identifying the park but the entrance is immediately adjacent to an apartment building complex. This is the same area where I reported a couple of weeks ago seeing many of the same birds that Paul reported. So, some of the bird population seems to be pretty stable. Although, I did not see any cacklers I did see a bald eagle which was exciting for me. The tailwater area immediately below the dam is a great place to see blue herons and there always seems to be a couple of belted kingfishers scolding and flying about. In the spring and summer you can see a blue heron about every 100 yards in the tailwater area. I have also been able to got some shots of a green heron in the same area.

Subject: Re: [Ohio-birds] Hoover Park below Griggs Dam

Hi all,

I received a few emails about where Hoover Park was located, so I
thought I'd post details here in case anyone else was curious.

Relying on google maps, I was under the impression that Hoover park is
the stretch of grass and woods that runs from below the Grigg's
reservoir dam (Google map: http://goo.gl/GL3nM ) down about half a
mile to a smaller parking area along the river (Google map:
http://goo.gl/QHq1W ). The 3 cacklers were visible from that southern
most parking area.

If this stretch has a more commonly used name (or multiple names)
please let me know so I can update the location name in eBird.

Thanks,
Paul Hurtado
