I guess I just want to tell someone, and I have never posted to the List-serve. Anyway, I walked on the Towpath December 31, from Big Bend to the Overlook where the Little Cuyahoga R. flows into the Cuyahoga R. On a power tower across the river from the Overlook, sat an adult bald eagle. As I'm watching a second bald eagle flew in and cozied up to the first, with a few high-pitched clucks from each. I sat there watching them for at least 20 min. Finally, the last one to arrive flew off to the southeast, but the one was still sitting there when I left soon after. Could they be looking for a nest site in this area? That would be really exciting! This is near the south end of a public golf course, and I'm not sure what is in that area, or where the golf course ends. It is lightly (at least) wooded, but I will have to check out whether there is much woods there.
Where were they when we did the Christmas Bird Count? Oh,well, there were kingfishers today too, that we did not find that day.
