Hello, Everyone,

Paul Baicich and Lisa Rock are doing a section of the Ottawa NWR Christmas
Bird Count today and they just called the bird observatory to report a Snowy
Owl. The owl is visible from the intersection of Benton-Carroll Road and the
first set of RR tracks south of State Route 2 - looking west. If you have
an Ohio DeLorme, it's on page 21. Benton-Carroll Road can be found between
State Route 19 and State Route 590. The railroad tracks are just south of
Velliquette Road and Packer Creek. Paul and Lisa pulled their car off the
road along the railroad tracks and are there right now looking at the bird.
Please keep in mind that the Sherriff's Department has low tolerance for
cars parked on or near the roads in Ottawa County, for good reasons. The
ditches around here are wicked, and have been known to suck up everything
from small cars to 15-passenger vans.

Good Birding and Happy New Year!
