Sorry for the lateness of this post, but Mary Warren asked me to share the
wonderful short-earred owl sightings the Firelands Audubon group had
Sunday Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area.
Mary wrote:
"But the highlight was at the end of the day about 5:30 pm. It was still
plenty light out and I spotted a short eared owl perched low. Then we
started to look and found 10 SE owls perched!!! There were 5 on one log! The
more we looked the more we saw...........and I'm sure we probably missed
some! It was the best looks at SE owls that I have ever had...........and
a life bird for the other two people on the trip........Juanita Arwood and
Carol Landefeld of Huron."
They also saw lots of raptors, 12 species of waterfowl, and had great looks
at Eastern Meadowlarks.
