Yesterday I found two Tree Swallows at Cowan Lake. I was not particularly
surprised as I had had a phone call from Bob Thobaben earlier in the day
saying that he had found Tree Swallows there earlier in the day.

According to eBird, the previous earliest record for Tree Swallow at this
location is 24 Mar (David A Brinkman, 1992).

The lake is at least a foot higher than usual and may go higher today as the
runoff from yesterday's rain moves downstream. This has had the effect of
reducing the waterfowl numbers. Many geese and ducks have moved out to
flooded farm fields.

Cheers,

Bob
