Paul Gardner and I just wrapped up a morning of birding at Killdeer Plains. Highlights were a single white pelican at pond 27 and perhaps as many as 20 rusty blackbirds mixed in with more common blackbirds further down the road to the west of pond 27. We could not relocate the Ross's goose or any non-Canada geese. A red-headed woodpecker was at the traditional spot near the upground reservoir. We also had 3 rough-legged hawks (light morph). We did not check the owl grove, and a check of the long-eared tree turned up nothing.

Good birding,
