Mid-afternoon I got a call from Jim Ramsey who told me a birder called him about two
White Pelicans at Cowan Lake. I rushed out and found three at the very end of the lake
beyond the spot where the park office used to be. I think this is the East End which usually has lots of lily pads. The birds are straight out and visible with binoculars. As far as I know this is only the second recorad of Pelicans at Cowan. While I was there at
3:30 they were seen by a park ranger, Jim Hickman, and later by Beth Mitchell.
Happy Birder Cheers, Larry Gara
