Hi Guys,
Took a little cruise today to survey some of the flood damage and look
for birds. Stopped at the bridge on Orweiler Road, the only part of
Clearfork Lake that is not still frozen, and was rewarded with 40 or so
Ring-necked Ducks, 120+ Canada Geese, half a dozen Mallards, 1 Red-tailed
Hawk, 2 Red-shouldered Hawks, and a flyover of 12 Swans with one tag-along
goose. They definitely were not Mute Swans, but could not tell if they
were Tundra or Trumpeter, and could not nail down the goose, either.
Either Greater White-fronted or Snow Goose, he looked pretty dark compared
to the swans. Also in the flooded field, north of the baseball diamonds
along Lex-Springmill Rd. there were at least 200 Herring Gulls, 60+ Canada
Geese and maybe a dozen Mallards.
Spring is sneaking up on us, it won't be long now!
Cheers,
Brian Hart
Richland County
