At 8:55 am, while in the campground at Maumee Bay State Park, I had a
lone Whooping Crane flying due west and eventually out of sight. Of
course I am assuming it was one of the uncountable Wisconsin birds.

Waterfowl, especially geese and swans, down dramatically in the last
ten days in the Metzgar Marsh/Ottawa Refuge area. I was surprised
not to see Phoebe nor Tree Swallow today. I had an Eastern Towhee at
Metzgar Marsh and three Fox Sparrows at the Magee Marsh Boardwalk. A
Rough-legged Hawk was along Krause Road and a Northern Shrike was at
the end of Stange Road. I watched a high flying flock of 12 Sandhill
Cranes heading due north from Ottawa headquarters area.

Cheers,
