With the recent warm snap there are daily arrivals along Ohio’s north coast.
Bald Eagles are in full breeding activity with many new pairs in the region.

This morning a Great Egret was observed flying to West Sister Island NWR
while I made a short survey of the lake. During that ˝ hour observation
period from the Magee Beach I counted: 475 Lesser Scaup, 260 Redhead, 175
bay divers (Scaup or Redhead), 68 Red-breasted Mergansers, 12 Common
Mergansers, 6 Common Goldeneye, 8 Bufflehead, 3 Wood Ducks, 15 American
Wigeon, 24 Mallard, 6 American Black Duck along with scores of Red-winged
Blackbird, Common Grackle, and American Robins flying by. 78 Rusty
Blackbirds were also counted and every swallow box along the causeway seems
to have interested Tree Swallow renters. The marsh itself was a wide array
of ducks.

As spring heats up follow the latest news at
