Although the hoary redpoll was not found again today, the redpolls put on a
great show this morning. Around 9:00 I had a flock estimated at over 300
feeding in the alders along the cliff. I tried to check out as many as I
could for any hoary candidates, but saw none. The flock eventually
gathered, circled just offshore then flew east. About two minutes later
another flock of 60 passed by heading in the same direction. Between the two
flocks I figured 360 birds. The amount of redpolls at my feeders today,
six.
