Thoreau Lake had the usual many geese, mallards and black ducks, with several ring-necked ducks, couple of widgeon, one red-head pair, several lesser scaup (I think). In the trek to the lake, two Cooper hawks flew overhead.

Hoover was pretty empty until I went to Galena. The area north of the bridge had a large group of ring-necked ducks. And off the end of the boardwalk, I saw several pintails, widgeons, ring-necked ducks among the numerous geese.

I walked to the end of the Oxbow lane, and saw more of the above, but also at least one Herring gull and a large raft (if that is the word) of snow geese--maybe 75 and about 1/3 blue phase. Never had seen that before at Hoover.
