I checked Evans L. and Pine L. and took a cruise around Coitsville Twp. today.  Despite the persistent cold northerly winds there were some fresh faces around.  Waterbirds at Evans L/Pine L:  gadwalls, Am. wigeons, n. shovelers, green-winged teal, 65 ring-necked ducks, lesser scaups, 10 buffleheads, hooded mergansers, 285 red-breasted mergansers, 60 ruddy ducks, pied-billed grebe, 20 horned grebes, 11 c. loons, 30 double-crested cormorants, 45 Am. coots, and 4 Bonaparte's gulls.  Cooper's hawk and 2 Am. kestrels were by Evans L.  In Coitsville Twp. were bufflehead, red-shouldered hawk, possible pair of Am. kestrels, 2 Wilson's snipes, 2 e. phoebes, brown creeper, e. bluebirds, dark-eyed juncos, and 15+ rusty blackbirds.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
