Hi Everyone,

Around our house, the arrival of the Common Grackles to our feeders is an
important sign that Spring is coming, despite the cold. For the last few
years, wešve also had occasional visits from Red-winged Blackbirds, and last
week one of them graced us with a visit. There are still some White-throated
Sparrows and Dark-eyed Juncos, and wešre still getting visits from
Red-breasted Nuthatches. But this morning we had our first Brown-headed
Cowbird of the year under the feeders.

I have to acknowledge that this bird, a male, is very attractive in his new
plumage‹but somehow he doesnšt inspire the same overwhelmingly positive
response as the Red-winged Blackbirds...

Best wishes,

Steve Cagan
