Greetings from the slowly thawing Swamp,

Friday I was out looking for ducks and found mostly ice with a few Mallards. Today we made the rounds from our house to Paulding and back and came home with 12 species, thanks to a little rain and a lot of melting.
Species included Mallard, Green-winged Teal, Gadwall, Black Duck, Ring Necks, L. Scaup, Redheads, Canvasbacks, Bufflehead, Hooded Mergansers, Common Goldeneye, and Woodies. We also saw a small flotilla of Coot and a couple of Snow Geese among the Canadas at the Thomas Wetlands.

Micki also scared up the first Woodcock of the year on our property.

Not a bad day considering that both the Paulding Reservoir and some of the higher ponds are still frozen tight!

Bird long and prosper,
Doug & Micki Dunakin
Antwerp, O.
