I live in a forested area in Lawrence County. This weekend, among other
things, I was able to identify:
several yellowthroated vireos
red eyed vireo
2 warbling vieros
A treat for me- a blue-winged warbler. For those of you who responded to my
question on bird apps, the "Heads-up Warblers" app was the one that helped
me with this identification. I heard an unusual song, saw the bird- it
looked somewhat like the yellow-throated vireo, but the song was very
different. I pulled up the app, scrolled through the head shots of the
warbler, saw the one I thought it was (blue-winged) and then played the
song- perfect match! This was a first time for me with this bird.
