We had reports that the Western Grebe was still being seen as late as 6PM last night. After arriving home from work today at 5:45PM; we had to go and see if we could find the Western Grebe one more time. Denise and I were at Evans Lake tonight from 6:45PM to 7:30PM. We scanned the lake in pouring down rain from both Calla Road, and The Villas at Evans Lake. We had the same results as Dan Sanders, we could not locate the Western Grebe! We did still have good views of 2 Red-throated Loons and 1 Red-necked Grebe. Some other sightings of interest were: Common Loon~6, Pied-billed Grebe~8, Horned Grebe~5, a single black raft of 350+ Double-crested Cormorants, Bufflehead~140+, Ruddy Duck~240+, and Bonaparte's Gull~16+. I am interested in knowing what birders came and visited our corner of Ohio to see the Western Grebe, and which of you had success, and which of you didn't! I would appreciate a message to my personal e-mail ([log in to unmask]); from those who made the trip and who was with you. Please respond! Thank you!
