The strong winds brought in a lot of hermit thrushes and white throated
sparrows!!   One early yellow warbler brightened up the day.  Other
birds seen on the monthly bird count today include:

D.C. Cormorant,Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets,Black Crowned
Night-Heron, Mute Swan, Trumpeter Swan, Canada Geese, Mallard, Gadwall,
N. Shoveler, Wood Duck, Ring-necked duck, Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead,
Ruddy Ducks, Red-breasted  Merganser, Coopers Hawk,  Red- Tailed Hawk,
Bald Eagle, American Coots, Killdeer, Ring-billed gull, Bonaparte's
gull, Mourning Dove, Kingfisher, N. Flicker, Downy Woodpecker,
Red-bellied Woodpecker, Eastern Phoebe, Tree Swallow, Purple Martin,
Brown Creeper, Brown Thrasher, Am. Robin, Hermit Thrush, Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher, Golden-crowned kinglet, Ruby-crowned kinglet, E. Starlings,
Yellow warbler, Yellow-rumped warbler, Red-winged blackbird, Grackle,
Brown-headed cowbird, Northern Cardinal, E. Towhee, Dark-eyed junco,
White-throated sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Am. Goldfinch,
House Sparrow. 

We will be starting our Saturday morning Bird Walks this Saturday, April
23.   There will also be walks on April 30,  May 7, and May 21.  The
walks leave from the west end of the boardwalk at 8 :30 am.
