While pulling a weed out of my front flower bed a little before 8 p.m., I heard an odd call overhead, looked up and saw a single

SANDHILL CRANE

flying overhead. Now that's a great yard bird for a lot that's only about 40' X 100' in the middle of a residential area.

I expect it was coming from T J Evans or one of the gravel quarries along the North Fork, as it was flying from northeast toward southwest.

Yard bird # 64
Licking Co. bird # 64 for this year; # 191 Licking Co. all-time list (for me).

Happy birding to all of you, too. Hope you had as good a day as I have had.

Margaret Bowman
Licking Co. (Newark) OH
