Nothing overly exciting for Emil Bacik and I today, but a few things of note.
Interestingly, and not reflected on John's more easterly lakewatches,
Bonaparte's Gulls and Caspian Terns were on the move throughout the day.  300+
Bonies were concentrated along the Cedar Point Causeway - nothing odd among them
- and three Dunlin.  At nearby Joseph Steinen Wildlife Area (just east on S.R.
6), we witnessed a mini hawk movement - nine Broad-wingeds, three Sharpies, and
a harrier passed within 15 min or so.  At this same location, it was obvious a
Long-eared Owl had wintered by the number of pellets present beneath the
pines.  71 Caspian Terns were resting on the mudbar at Lorain Imoundment (with
easily 100 total in the area).  Waterfowl were also in surprising abundance and
variety with 16 sp. present, and two Spotted Sandpipers were new arrivals.

Good birding -
Gabe Leidy
