Sandy Tkach, June Campbell, and I conducted the April monthly census today.
Weather was beautiful. Temp started about 36 and got to about 50, clear
skies, winds out of the W-NW 10-20 mph. We observed 77 species on the
census route and an additional 4 after the route. The 77 species is the
best in 14 years of the April census. In addition, we observed 10,113
individual which is also our top showing. The 14 year average is 67 species
and 4825 individuals. Nothing really unusual was observed but Northern
Harrier and Marsh Wren were firsts for the April count.
