A couple of firsts of the spring at our house:
The first ruby-throated hummingbird, a male at the front porch feeder this
evening.
And, yesterday evening, the first wood thrush singing from the woods next
door plus the first gray tree frog calling to go with the peepers and
American toads.
Also yesterday, on my drive home from work, I saw two great egrets very
close to the road (route 226) through Killbuck marsh, midway between
Willow Road and the Wright Marsh parking lot, west of Shreve in Wayne
County.
