A female Wood Duck wandered into our back yard this morning. She perched on the roof of a blue bird nest box and looked comically out-of-place! When her male partner flew over, she left the nest box roof to join him. They landed in a nearby flooded field. We're hoping they will nest again this year in a Wood Duck box along our wetland pond.

Our Purple Martin colony is slowly returning. An adult male scout was seen around 7:00 pm yesterday. Today we are seeing 4 martins. So nice to hear their cheerful greetings!
